Your Guide to the 2027 Chevrolet Bolt

General Motors brings back the Chevrolet Bolt for 2027, responding to customer demand for this affordable electric hatchback. Available in LT and RS trims, the Bolt delivers up to 410 km of GM-estimated range with improved charging speeds and updated technology.
Premier Chevrolet Cadillac Buick GMC in Windsor will receive this limited-production model in early 2026, offering Ontario drivers access to practical electric transportation.

Technology

The infotainment system runs on Google built-in, integrating Google Maps, Google Assistant, and various entertainment options. OnStar Connectivity powers these services, keeping the vehicle connected for navigation, communication, and media streaming. Route planning through Google Maps factors in battery charge levels automatically, suggesting optimal paths for longer journeys.

On extended trips, the navigation system identifies charging locations along your route and provides real-time station availability. If DC fast charging stations appear on your path, the battery preconditioning feature warms the pack for optimal charging performance. Voice control through “Hey Google” manages climate settings, seat heaters, phone calls, and messages without requiring hands to leave the steering wheel. Integration with home automation systems allows voice-activated garage door operation. While parked, passengers can access entertainment apps including Chrome, GameSnacks, Tubi, Prime Video, and Angry Birds, with more options available through Google Play downloads.

Exterior

The hatchback body style remains a defining characteristic of the 2027 Bolt, providing the versatile cargo access that owners value. Updated styling gives the electric vehicle a refreshed appearance while preserving its functional shape. Customers can choose from seven exterior colours, each paired with 17-inch aluminum wheels that come in three available finishes.

RS models feature visual enhancements that distinguish them from LT variants. Black high-gloss wheels create contrast against the body colour, while black roof rails add a sporty touch. Special RS badging on the grille identifies the upper trim. Buyers selecting the RS can opt for Atomic Yellow paint combined with red stitching inside, a colour scheme exclusive to this trim level. Ground clearance measures 5.6 inches, and the overall length reaches 169.6 inches, maintaining dimensions that work well for urban and suburban driving.

Interior

A driver-focused layout defines the cabin of the 2027 Bolt. Two screens dominate the front environment: an 11.3-inch diagonal display for infotainment mounted in the center, and an 11-inch diagonal instrument cluster directly ahead of the driver. Both screens provide clear information and allow user customization to suit individual preferences.

Moving the shifter to the steering column frees up console space, creating an open area between the front seats. Storage compartments sit below the instrument panel and in the center area for convenient access to small items. Physical buttons and knobs handle essential functions like temperature and volume, ensuring these controls remain within easy reach. Both trims include heated front seats and a heated steering wheel as standard equipment. Optional features include front seat ventilation, wireless device charging, and a panoramic glass roof that brightens the interior.

Powertrain

GM’s X76 electric drive unit powers the 2027 Bolt, marking the tenth GM electric vehicle to use this in-house designed component. The single-motor setup produces 210 horsepower and 169 lb-ft of torque, delivered through a permanent-magnet motor with an 11.59:1 final drive ratio. Engineers designed the motor to use minimal rare-earth materials, reducing production costs while maintaining performance.

Segmented magnets inside the motor limit heat generation and energy waste. Silicon carbide materials in the inverter further reduce energy loss as power flows from the battery pack to the motor. The 65 kWh battery uses Lithium Iron Phosphate chemistry in prismatic cells, backed by an 8-year or 160,000 km warranty. Regenerative braking captures energy during deceleration and returns it to the battery, extending driving range. This system operates automatically regardless of drive mode selection, though One-Pedal Driving offers a different feel for drivers who prefer it.

Two trim levels make up the 2027 Chevrolet Bolt lineup. Both share identical powertrains, batteries, and range capabilities, with differences showing up in appearance details and equipment levels.

Bolt LT: Priced from $43,470, the LT provides the core Bolt experience with heated seats and steering wheel, both digital screens, Google built-in connectivity, and multiple USB-C charging ports. Available upgrades include wireless phone charging, ventilated front seats, and the panoramic sunroof.

Bolt RS: At $46,070, the RS adds performance-inspired styling touches like special grille badges, black-finished wheels, and black roof rails. The exclusive Atomic Yellow paint with red interior stitching is only offered on this trim. All LT standard features carry over, with the same optional equipment available.

Frequently Asked Questions about the 2027 Chevrolet Bolt

What kind of range can I expect from the 2027 Bolt?

GM estimates up to 410 km of range on a full charge, based on testing consistent with SAE J1634 revision 2017 standards. Actual range depends on several variables including outside temperature, terrain, battery age and condition, vehicle loading, and driving habits. Over 80% of Canadian EV drivers charge at home, and with average daily driving around 50 km, the Bolt’s range handles most routine needs comfortably.

How much faster is the charging compared to the previous Bolt?

The 2027 model charges more than 2.5 times faster than the previous generation when using DC fast charging. Maximum DC charging speed reaches 150 kW, allowing the battery to go from 10% to 80% charge in approximately 26 minutes at compatible public stations. At home with an 11.5 kW charging station, you can add roughly 64 km of range per hour of charging.
