2027 Chevrolet Trax or 2027 Chevrolet Trailblazer: How to Choose Your Small Chevrolet SUV

Chevrolet offers two small SUVs that are easy to park, easy to live with and packed with standard tech. The 2027 Trax and the 2027 Trailblazer are both expected at Chevrolet dealers in spring 2027, and each one gets fresh updates for the new model year.

They share a lot, but they suit different drivers. One leans toward city commuters and value-minded families. The other adds more power, an available 9-speed automatic and all-wheel drive for people who head off pavement. This guide sorts out which one fits your routine.

The Tech Both Models Share

Start with what you get no matter which badge you pick. Both SUVs come with an 11-inch-diagonal driver information centre and an 11.3-inch-diagonal infotainment screen. Google built-in with Gemini compatibility is standard, and OnStar Basics is included for up to 8 years.

Safety is shared too. Each model carries more than 20 standard safety and driver-assist features. The list includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Front and Rear Park Assist, Blind Zone Steering Assist, Reverse Automatic Braking and Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking.

Side Bicyclist Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, the Safety Alert Seat and a Rear Seat Belt Indicator round it out. You do not need to move up a trim to get any of them on either SUV.

The Trax: Everyday Driving With a Fresh Look

A green SUV parked on a sandy beach with two people walking towards the ocean in the background.

The Trax runs a 1.2 L turbocharged 3-cylinder engine with 137 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque. It sends power to the front wheels through a 6-speed automatic with real stepped gears. The setup keeps things simple and responsive for daily errands.

The 2027 refresh brings a new grille, new wheel designs, all-LED taillamps and a redesigned liftgate. The RS rolls on 19-inch wheels, and the ACTIV wears its own unique front end. An available power liftgate makes loading groceries easier.

Its cargo area holds 725 L behind the rear seat, a touch more than the Trailblazer with every seat in use. Fold the seat and it opens to 1,532 L.

The Trailblazer: More Power and More Choice

The Trailblazer starts with the same 1.2 L turbo, paired with a CVT and front-wheel drive. Its available 1.3 L turbocharged 3-cylinder steps up to 155 hp and 174 lb-ft. That engine works with a 9-speed automatic and selectable all-wheel drive.

The cabin gets new touches for 2027. A column-mounted shifter frees space between the front seats. The redesigned centre console has retractable cupholders, and rear passengers get their own HVAC vents.

The new Z71 trim adds off-road-tuned suspension, an underbody skid plate, sport-terrain tires and debossed front headrests. With the rear seat folded, the Trailblazer holds 1,540 L of cargo.

Finding Your Fit

Both SUVs are strong picks. The right one comes down to how you drive and where you go. Use these lists to sort it out.

Choose the Trax if:

  • Most of your driving is in town, on short commutes and school runs
  • You like the feel of a 6-speed automatic with stepped gears
  • You want the most cargo room with the rear seat up, at 725 L
  • You like the refreshed styling, from the RS’s 19-inch wheels to the ACTIV’s unique front end

Choose the Trailblazer if:

  • You want the extra pull of 155 hp and 174 lb-ft
  • You need selectable all-wheel drive for slick or loose roads
  • You plan to explore gravel roads and trails in the new Z71
  • Rear-seat passengers will appreciate their own HVAC vents
